Overview 
Project update as of November 2012
Overall Civil Structure Viaduct piling works 100% completed, Pilecaps/ Open foundations 100% completed, Pier works 100% completed, Pier cap cast 100% completed, pre cast girder casting 100% completed. Overall viaduct works 99% completed.
Western Railway Bridge Steel Girder erection of 1st, 2nd and 3rd span completed & preparation for deck slab between P131 – P132 is in progress.
Western Express Highway Bridge Bridge completed in all respects and systems work in full swing.
Sub Station Work Structural works at Marol Substation have been completed; finishing works completed. Systems works is well in progress. All the transformers have been received and installed at Marol Sub-Station and expected to be commissioned shortly. EIG sanction awaited.
Depot Construction of Depot works is in progress and on schedule. Civil works at D N Nagar Depot Receiving Substation have been completed. All transformers have been received and installation is completed. Complete approach ramp at D N Nagar car depot completed and work of complex cast-in-situ girders completed.
Communication system 1. Detailed design completed. FAT completed successfully for most equipments. 2. 75% materials received & balance under transit. Shipping clearance given for all materials. Telecom site work commenced.
Signalling system 1. Detailed designs are completed. FAT for Hardware completed. 2. All materials have reached store. 3. Main line & depot installation work for phase I is planned to commence from December 2012.
Automatic Fare Collection 1. Detailed Design completed. 2. Business Rules finalized, Security Policies are in advance stage of finalization. Gate prototype tested successfully. Manufacturing of Ticket issuing machine commenced. POST prototype testing commenced. 3. ICD interface coordination document signed with E&M and Telecom. 4. Test Central computer system, automatic gates and other equipment for test platform installed and commissioned at Marol RSS. 5. Installation of S/W completed at test platform equipment. 6. Testing of 1st version software is in progress. 7. FAT completd for Automatic gate (48 cab). 8. FAT completed for 29 TIM & RUCT. 9. FAT for data & power cable completed. 10. Procurement of local installation materials completed and ready to start installation.
Power Supply Traction & SCADA 1. FAT of major PST equipments completed. 2. Marol Substation – Installation works completed. Testing and commissioning is in progress. 3. D N Nagar Depot – D N Nagar RSS charged. 4. OHE mast 82% erected. 5. OCS work in line 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 of stabling shed 1 and inspection line 1, 2 & 3 up to anchor points & workshop line 1, 2, 3 are completed. Entry & exit for OCS completed. OCS for 3rd track completed. J hanger works is progress & 16257 nos. completed. Further installation works in progress. 6. Equipment erection at Versova, D N Nagar & Azad nagar in progress. ASS2 ready for charging. Equipment erection at ASS3 in depot in progress. 7. 11 KV cable laying completed from RSS to D N Nagar station, and from D N Nagar to Versova station. 25 KV cable laid from RSS to feeding post. 8. D N Nagar RSS locals SCADA testing and commissioning in progress.
Trackworks 1. Detailed Design completed. Rails received. Trackwork installation is as follows: 2. Ballast less track on viaduct – 18.1 km completed 3. Ballast less turnouts a. Single turn out – 3 nos. b. Cross over – 5 nos. c. Scissor cross over – 1 no. 4. Ballasted track in depot – 3.1 km completed 5. Single turnout – 20 nos. 6. Scissor cross over – 1 no. completed 7. Work shop track – 400 m completed. 8. Inspection track completed. 9. Flash butt welding completed for entire section, AT welding in progress and 406 nos. completed.
Train Seven (7 nos.) of trains of four coaches each have been received and stabled at Depot. Two (2 nos.) trains have been dispatched from China and one train set to be dispatched from China in 2nd week of Dec 2012. These are scheduled to arrive in Depot by Dec end 2012. 3. Equipment installation checks for Signaling and Train radio system commenced.
Building & E&M services Stations: i. Preliminary design is completed and detailed designing for all 12 stations completed. ii. Earth mesh ready at Versova, D N Nagar, Azad Nagar, WEH, Andheri, Chakala, Airport road, Marol & Ghatkopar station and in progress at remaining stations. iii. Conduits works below screed at concourse completed at Versova, D N Nagar, Azad Nagar stations, Andheri, and Saki naka and progressing at Airport road, Chakala & Marol Naka stations. iv. Cable tray work in progress at Versova, D N Nagar, Azad Nagar, Andheri, Chakala and Airport road stations. v. Fire piping work in progress at Versova, DN Nagar & Azad nagar stations. vi. Signaling, S&T rooms at Versova, D N Nagar, Azad nagar have been handed over, and are in progress at Andheri, Chakala and Airport road stations. Depot: i. Preliminary design is completed and detailed designing for Depot buildings completed. ii. RSS – 1st & 2nd floor E&M works completed iii. External fire hydrant works in progress iv. Conduits works in progress at OCC, PTR & Workshop. v. Earthing works in progress. vi. Cable tray & duct work in progress at OCC and PTR building. vii. Lighting work in progress at Inspection bay, workshop area and completed in stabling yard. viii. OCC Tech room & PTR handed over to S & T. viii. OCC Tech room handed over to S & T and PTR in progress.
Depot Machinery & Plant Major M&P received after FAT. Loco being used for shunting of trains within depot. Bogie turntables installed. Train simulator commissioned and training of O&M staff is in progress. Cranes Installation completed, testing and commissioning is in progress and other items to follow. Road cum rail vehicle commissioned for rescue operation of rolling stock. Battery operated shunting vehicle is being used for movement of trains.

Alignment

  • The Proposed Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro corridor will be 11.40 Km long double line on elevated viaduct with Standard Gauge (1435 mm)
  • The proposed alignment starts at Versova, runs along the JP Road, crosses the SV Road and Western Railway tracks to the North of existing Andheri Suburban Railway Station
  • The alignment travels on the MV Road ( Andheri-Kurla Road). It crosses the Western Express Highway (WEH) above the existing flyover and reaches Sakinaka
  • From Sakinaka the alignment travels along the Andheri-Ghatkopar link Road upto Asalpha
  • After Asalpha, the alignment crosses the Kadam Road and runs through Golibar Road upto LBS Marg after taking almost 90 degrees turn behind the Sarvodaya Hospital
  • From the LBS Marg the alignment passes along the Heera Chand Desai Road upto Ghatkopar proposed Metro Station near the Ghatkopar Suburban Railway Station
  • The take off point for Car depot is located near proposed DN Nagar Metro Station
